Breathe...

Drawing installation by Jennifer O'Brien shown at Articulate Project Space, Leichhardt  2012

'Breathe' drawing installation continued past installation works by Jennifer O'Brien. It challenged the cartography of the western identified contained body through creating and displacing visceral organs and venous systems.  This installation was   sourced from visceral body images of the lungs, which were distorted using digital software and then redrawn and multiplied insinuating one large gasp for breath. The installation consisted of  tracing paper, pen, and archers paper. The installation appeared seductive and ethereal, but its complexity through layering made it somewhat suffocating inferring action, anticipation and uncertainty. Which way do we breathe? It questioned our interior mapping systems, beliefs about the body and the performative aspects of anatomical studies.
